Sometimes dreams really do come true – when I was about 17 years old I was with a group of friends at The Patch in Coolangatta watching Iggy Pop bounce around that stage like a man possessed! High energy is an understatement. At the time I was an aspiring photographer whose dream it was to somehow combine my love of music with my love of photography. It took me 19 years in the corporate sector, world travel, a child and here I am at the age of 42 living my dream and ironically being one of the photographers at Bluesfest in the pit shooting none other than the man himself – Iggy Pop, still bouncing around the stage like he did all that time ago. The Bluesfest in Byron Bay is iconic – it has been happening for 24 years, I was also lucky enough to be at the very first one where Blues legend Charlie Musselwhite performed as we discovered when I met him and his lovely wife backstage over the weekend.
There was something for everyone and smiles all round – I think these photos tell the story. Enjoy!
