Instead of getting lost in loud music and crowds at Splendour, I decided to fly down and meet my girlfriend Elizabeth in Sydney (after she had a week with the girls), and do a road trip back to our home of Byron Bay together. Oh how romantic!
Even though living in Byron Bay is paradise, and a place of escapism, finding yourself, a surfing haven, etc, etc for it’s regulars (like us), it’s still good to take off for a couple of days and be as spontaneous as your thoughts and be an unknown traveller yourself.
It was a three day extravaganza of fun for us. These words spring to mind Oldfield’s, family, road-food, maxi-bon, Myall Lakes, Fish without Chips, Crowdy Head, bonding, Forster Palms Motel, pelicans, coffee, indulgence, Emerald Beach, pinwheels, sandy desert, truck accident, snuggle-town, blue skies, and much much more
With all these exciting new experiences, I’m still so happy to return to the Byron Shire. It’s home. It’s where I’ll keep weaving roots into the ground I’m also absent of a Splendour hangover!
