Announcing the Nikon ‘Clubbie of the Year’ Award

Here on My Nikon Life you may have entered last year’s photo assignment ‘Australian For Life’ as part of our partnership with the iconic Australian charity, Surf Life Saving. This year, we’re proud to support Surf Life Saving again, launching the inaugural Nikon ‘Clubbie of the Year’ Award.

We’re giving Surf Life Saving clubs the chance to share in $330,000 in cash and Nikon Gear. The crowned Nikon ‘Clubbie of the Year’ for 2011 will win $5,000 cash for themselves and $5,000 for their club. There’ll also be 5 runners up who’ll win $1,000 cash for themselves and $1,000 for their club.

Every vote for the member who is selected to represent their club earns $10 worth of credit (up to $1,000RRP per club) redeemable for Nikon gear of the club’s choice to use within the Club, which includes cameras, binoculars and more.

We’re now calling for entries for the Nikon ‘Clubbie of the Year’.

The award is open for Surf Life Saving members – but we’re asking for your help to nominate them. If you know a member of Surf Life Saving and would like to nominate them to win Nikon ‘Clubbie of the Year’, go to the award website by clicking here. Not only will you be supporting them, but also their club and the community they protect and serve each year.

Nominations are open from 12 August – 4 September 2011. Voting is open from the 8 September – 2 October 2011.

From rescue operations, preventative actions and administering first aid to surf safety and survival programs in the community and much more, Surf Life Saving is committed to reaching out beyond the red and yellow flags.

And Nikon Australia is proud to support that commitment by providing funds, products and services to SLS to they can continue to carry out their vital work.

In February 2011, we donated 314 pairs of waterproof Nikon 7×50 CF binoculars, one for every Club in Australia. And the response was overwhelming. In fact, many Clubs’ told us how much they appreciated being able to replace their aging equipment. Last summer, we also contributed $30 from the sale of every Nikon D3100 Digital SLR camera; an initiative that provided significant funds to assist in the implementation of water safety education, surf lifesaver training programs and more.

It is in this spirit that we’re excited to launch the inaugural Nikon ‘Clubbie of the Year’ Award.
