Announcing our partnership with Surfing Australia

Stephanie Gilmore – Nikon Ambassador for the COOLPIX AW100

We’re excited to announce our partnership with Surfing Australia, Australia’s peak surfing organisation. As part of the partnership, Nikon has become the official Surfing Australia camera. Five-time world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore also comes on board as the ambassador for the new waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof COOLPIX AW100.

As part of our partnership, we’re also calling for entries for the Nikon Surf Photo & Movie of the Year as part of the Australian Surfing Awards. You can enter and learn more about the awards by clicking here.

Stephanie is being revealed as the face of Nikon’s first locally-produced ‘I AM’ TV Commercial. This sees Stephanie sitting alongside international stars such as Jamie Oliver as a Nikon Australia ambassador. The new locally-produced campaign will feature TV commercials, print advertisements and online activity.

Commenting on Nikon & Surfing Australia’s partnership, Andrew Stark, Surfing Australia CEO said: “Surfing and photography go hand in hand as both are about capturing that one beautiful moment that you can’t recreate. We’re delighted to partner with Nikon. We have found Nikon product to be pretty unbeatable and we’ve all put it through its paces.

Stephanie also added: “I’ve always loved photography since the days of film SLR’s. I’ve had a COOLPIX AW100 waterproof camera since it launched and am loving how it allows me the flexibility to express my creativity. I take it everywhere, even out in the surf. While I’m far from being a professional photographer, photography is a huge part of my life in terms of helping me relax, documenting my travels and capturing those special moments.”

Also announced is the call for entries for the much-anticipated Nikon Surf Photo of the Year and Nikon Surf Movie of the Year awards as part of the Australian Surfing Awards.

Launched in August, the COOLPIX AW100 is waterproof to approximately 10 meters, shockproof to approximately 1.5 meters and built to withstand temperatures as low as −10°C (14°F). With a 16mp CMOS sensor, the Nikon COOLPIX AW100 is one of the slimmest, truly waterproof compact digital cameras available. Additional features like full-HD movie recording, GPS support, electronic compass and map display ensure you’ll never be out of your depth no matter how far you roam.
