Nikon scoops awards at TIPA 2013

The TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) come together each year to vote for the best photographic and imaging products released during the year. We’re thrilled to be able to once again celebrate Best Product wins in 4 categories.

BEST ADVANCED DSLR: Nikon D7100
Judges Comments: The DX format Nikon D7100 has a new DX format CMOS sensor, an effective pixel count of 24.1-million pixels and 51-point AF system, including 15 cross-type sensors. Along with numerous Picture Controls and Effects (available to both still and video shooters) as well as advanced photo features, the durable magnesium alloy cover construction and a 150k cycle shutter elevate this camera to the advanced class.

BEST EASY COMPACT CAMERA: Nikon COOLPIX S01
Judges Comments: Weighing in at a mere approximately 96 g and measuring approximately 51.2mm high, 77mm wide, and 17.2mm deep, the camera delivers a shutter speed range of 1-1/2000 seconds, an ISO range of 80-1600, and can also record HD video in MOV mode (MPEG-4 and AVC/H.264). In offers numerous scene modes and in-camera special effects editing plus exposure compensation in +/-2EV. Exposure is programmed Auto, as befits an “easy” compact that is eminently portable.

BEST SUPERZOOM CAMERA: Nikon COOLPIX P520
Judges Comments: The 42X optical zoom NIKKOR lens in the COOLPIX P520 delivers up to 1000mm (equivalents in 35mm format), coverage with built-in lens-shirft VR (Vibration Reduction). There are numerous scene and creative modes, plus the P520 allow the user to create movie with a host of resolution options, including Full HD.

BEST CSC ENTRY LEVEL LENS: 1 Nikkor 11-27mm f/3.5-5.6 ED-IF
Judges Comments: Made for all Nikon 1 Compact System cameras, the equally compact 1 NIKKOR 11-27.5mm lens measures approximately 57.5 x 31mm and weighs approximately only 83 g. Combining with the retractable lens mechanism, this lens adds little to the camera weight or size when carried or in action, making it an ideal companion lens with eminent portability.
