Introducing the NIKKOR AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR zoom lens. It’s set to broaden the reach of your telephoto abilities, with a focal length range of 70 to 300mm. In fact, this new FX-format compatible zoom lens is perfect for when you need to get close to the action from the sideline – or from a distance. It also boasts the agility to match its superior optical performance, so you can confidently capture fast-paced movement every time. Swiftly record crystal-clear images thanks to upgraded features, such as a quiet, high-speed and highly-accurate autofocus (AF) drive; Vibration Reduction (VR) – delivering an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.5 stops faster1; plus an Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass element that corrects chromatic aberration.
Keep the details in focus, no matter the distance
The AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR zoom lens covers 70 to 300mm2 focal length, and is designed for superior resolving power at both maximum wide-angle (70mm) and telephoto (300mm). This puts it among the top few in its class – giving you the ability to isolate certain aspects of your shot or compose the perfect image.
Reach new heights with brilliant optical performance
Deliver even more breathtaking photos, with the new AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR zoom lens. It features an ED glass element that corrects chromatic aberration effectively – even at the periphery. This gives it the ability to produce images that are sharp, with colours that are more true-to-life, even in high-contrast situations.
Maximise your agility in the field
Stay at the top of your game under any circumstance. The AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR features a vastly-improved, fast and highly-accurate AF function. With its stepping motor (STM), you can swiftly and smoothly change focus – allowing an uninterrupted transition, even when capturing action in your videos. The lens is also nimble and ultra-responsive to challenging scenarios.
All in one comfortable and reliable frame
Rigorously tested for dust and drip-resistant performance, this lens is designed for rugged reliability you can count on. Movable parts and other sections are sealed to protect the interior of the lens against dust and water droplets, making it a versatile and effective lens in a wide-range of environments.

Delly Carr, Award Winning Sports Photographer and Nikon Ambassador
“Coming from a professional lens to something so compact and quiet was very hard to get used to. That is a compliment. It was very light and transportable. Small. Very quiet. It was so quiet that at times I had to check whether it was working. After using it the first time I then realised that I had to trust the lens that it was working. It was so unnoticeable.
It took my mind a long time to get used to the fact that such a small compact quiet lens can do so much. It’s light weight makes to very usable at 300mm. I was able to keep up with the moving action. Particularly at the white water Kayak shoot. I found the results at 300mm outstanding. When it hit focus, the results are very accurate and perfect. I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to keep up with the action because the lens is so light.
Looking at the results of the images from Rock Climbing, I was also wonderfully surprised at the focus at infinity. Clear and sharp.
In its operation, I had no complaints about the lens. It worked very well, as it was built to do. There was nothing complex in its operation. I also found that looking through the camera’s viewfinder, I could see the athlete or scene very clearly and sharp. That was its greatest strength, an image that I could view and use in my thought process. I did not have to strain my eyes.
I found that the lens worked in the manner that one would expect from a Nikon lens. It was everything it was meant to be, and more. My only complaint is perhaps that it is too whisper quiet. And this is not a bad problem to have. It was like getting in a car that the engine made no noise. It would seem strange for a while, but the driver would get used to it.”
