Introduction to Digital SLR Classes
Q. Will I have access to the instructor to ask questions during the photo course?
Absolutely! All classes have a maximum of 30 students to ensure an informative and interactive class. Students can also ask questions in the special Q&A forum.
Q. What kind of hands-on experience will we get during the class?
Each course will have at least 3 practical exercises that are scheduled throughout the day. Weather permitting some practical exercises may be executed outdoors.
At the end of the day whether you have never used a Digital SLR camera before or have been using one off and on, you will be very comfortable with the digital medium. You will not only be able to shoot comfortably by yourself, but also get excellent and professional looking images from even the most basic of digital cameras.

The maximum group size is 30 people. If the course has above 15 students, a trained photography assistant will be on hand to assist with questions and practicals.
Introduction to Digital SLR Equipment and Technology
Q. My camera is not a Nikon. Can I still attend a class?
Yes, however please note that the ‘Knowing your Nikon’ segment is based on the Nikon camera system and therefore does not cover the operating systems of other brands. Although our Nikon instructors are Nikon professionals they will endeavour to help you in any way they can on other models. Please bring your instruction manual with you if you camera isn’t a Nikon product.
Q. Do I need to use a Digital SLR camera?
As all demonstrations and content is based on Digital SLR, in order to get the most out of this course a Digital SLR camera is required. Please refer to the ‘what to bring’ section on the mynikonlife.com.au/school course details.
Q. Is there going to be a hard sell of Nikon equipment?
No. A range of Nikon products will be on display in the classroom for students to view and for demonstration purposes but there will not be an emphasis on purchasing Nikon products.
Q. What kind of camera and lens will I need to complete the photo assignments?
You will only require a standard lens for the practical element but feel free to bring whatever you have.
Q. Should I bring a tripod?
We ask that you refrain from bringing your tripod to use due to room-size constraints. Monopods are ok.
Q. What about flash?
Yes. Flash is important for indoor photography. Most digital SLR’s come with an inbuilt flash but please bring an off camera flash if your camera does not have this feature.
Q. Will we learn how to use digital imaging software, such as Photoshop, to alter our photos?
No. This course does not cover digital imaging software.

The language used reflects the level of the course. Our instructors will be presenting all terminology in a way that will make perfect sense even for those not technologically savvy, without oversimplifying the lesson.
