2010 Walkley Award Winners Announced

We are excited to announce the winners for all categories in the Nikon-Walkley Photographic Awards.
The awards are the foremost competition for press photographers in Australia and are judged by a panel of senior photographers and picture editors who are representative of the whole industry.
The depth of quality of all the entries was quite remarkable this year, the judges said. The federal election campaign may have lacked spontaneity, they added, but Australian photographers submitted stunning images from the campaign. These are juxtaposed with tremendous photos of Australian weather extremes, and sporting photos that are both action-packed and personal."

As previously announced, Cameron Laird won the 2010 Nikon-Walkley Best Portrait Prize and Brendan McCarthy won the 2010 Nikon-Walkley Community/Regional Prize.
