As a young man, he was the annoying kid with the camera that everyone was always running away from. His father was into photography as a hobby and he gave George one of his old cameras; which sparked a life-long fascination.

He graduated from university with a science degree and then moved into education, teaching at high school. During his time as a teacher, a colleague set up a darkroom, and George’s interest in photography was reinvigorated.

Soon he was photographing weddings for friends and then he was contracted as a freelancer for a large wedding studio. Eventually it became obvious to George that his career was about to change. After several years working as a freelancer he left teaching and became a full-time photographer. In 1989 he began working for himself under the name Ardmillan Studios.

Over recent years he has won several international awards in wedding photography, he is a Master of Photography with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and a regular judge at the Australian Professional Photography Awards.
