The S800c can connect wirelessly to the Internet for easy uploading of stunning images and vivid videos (in Full (1080p) HD) to social networking sites. Along with the Backside illumination CMOS image sensor with an effective 16.0-million pixel count and 10x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, the S800c captures sharp, blur-free and unparalleled images which exceed a smartphone’s imaging capabilities.
Browse and post to social networking sites
Share beautiful photos and movies captured with the S800c, on social networking sites such as Google+™, Facebook and Twitter*. Plus you can also post comments and browse social networking sites as you would on an Android™ Smartphone.
Google Play™ compatible and built-in Google™ Apps
Users can customise their cameras by downloading their favourite apps from Google Play™. This will expand the ways in which users enjoy digital photography. A number of Google™ apps, including Google+™, YouTube™, Google Maps™, and Gmail™ come preinstalled on the camera.
Simple image transfer to other smart devices
Use the camera's Upload to Smart Device app to transfer high-resolution photos and movies via a wireless connection to smart devices which use the Android™ or iOS operating system.
Superior performance, image quality and definition
Through the high-performance S800c, it is always possible to capture those once-in-a-lifetime images which are sharp and blur free, something often difficult or even impossible with a smartphone. The ability to upload high-quality photos with superior definition directly from the camera to a social networking site means users can express themselves like never before, almost instantaneously.
A high-performance GPS module has been incorporated into the camera so that users can record position (latitude and longitude) information simultaneously when capturing photos and filming movies. When the myPicturetown app is used, the location where these photos and movies were recorded can be displayed on Google Maps™.
10x optical zoom
Equipped with a 10x optical zoom NIKKOR lens with ED Glass covering a range of focal lengths from wide-angle 25mm to 250mm (equivalents in 35mm format), and a built-in Lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) Image stabilisation function.
16 Megapixel CMOS sensor
A Backside illumination CMOS image sensor with an effective 16.0-million pixel count means images have very little noise, even when shooting night landscapes and indoor pictures in dim lighting, which require high sensitivities.
Full (1080p) HD videos
Record 1920 x 1080p/30-fps Full (1080p) HD movies with stereo sound using the S800c. Additional functions such as recording slow-motion movies; movies that play back at 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8 normal speed for a dramatic effect; and fast-motion movies that play back at twice the normal playback speed for a comical effect; allow users to further explore their creativity.
Upload images captured with the COOLPIX S800c to Nikon’s image storage and sharing service, myPicturetown, by downloading and installing the Picturetown app found on Google Play™. The app can be used to browse uploaded images, or to post a specific myPicturetown album URL to Facebook or tweet it on Twitter. It can also be used to view a list of myPicturetown albums, to rearrange albums using drag-and-drop operations or to change their layout. Since images stored on myPicturetown can be accessed directly from the camera, users can easily view or share them with others, almost as if they are carrying photo albums around with them.
3.5-Inch 819k-dot widescreen OLED monitor
The high-resolution, widescreen, VGA OLED monitor makes shooting, viewing and sharing photos more enjoyable, especially when images are vividly reproduced with the finest details. The OLED touch panel monitor reproduces deeper, more vivid colours with clear and beautiful blacks in night landscapes, decreases loss of detail in highlights (blown highlights) and has greater contrast. With a broad colour gamut, subjects are vividly reproduced and images are displayed in high-definition, as is the user interface.

"Uploading is fast and on a recent holiday I transferred about 140 shots to an iPad in just a few minutes while sitting in a train. The uploaded shots materialised in the iPad's photo roll… Nikon deserves congratulations for producing a truly innovative camera." Click here to read the full review.
"This hybrid camera looks like a compact camera and a smartphone met in the bar."
Karen Chang's Blog
"It definitely takes better photos than my smartphone... it zooms into the frame much better and takes clearer photos. Easy to use, full of auto functions, auto focus, zoom, good for low light situations, and it takes a nice clean hi-res photo. Overall, it's a good little compact camera with handy connectivity features." Click here to read the full review.
"Powered by Google's Android system, the COOLPIX S800c is the first point-and-shoot model with built in WiFi that lets you upload your snaps directly to social networking sites. Better still, you can download creativity boasting apps from Google Play."
