Tony Mott is one of Australia’s leading rock photographers. He’s toured three times with the Rolling Stones and also toured with Fleetwood Mac and Bob Dylan. He’s shot album covers for, amongst others, Tommy Emmanuel’s ‘Dare to be different’ and Beasts of Bourbon’s ‘Black Milk’.
While his work sees him travelling the world, Mott was in Australia when Big Day Out first started. He now goes on the road every year with the festival and has a rare opportunity to create a rapport with the bands he shoots, a luxury most other photographers don’t get.
Mott has had over 30,000 photos published, the result of some 2,500 sessions and countless live shows which have become 400 posters, 450 CD or vinyl covers and over 800 magazine front covers. Rock remains his passion but Mott has also shot stills for films Animal Kingdom, Cactus and Tomorrow when the War Began.
