49-week-1-perisher

QLD girl taking on the snow, blizzards and sub zero temperatures. This year is my first season working as a snow reporter at Perisher. Being a Queensland girl, the cold weather has been a shock to the system but I couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to live or take photos of.

Week one has been really busy, Perisher kicked off the season with the Snowy Mountains Music Festival accompanied by plenty of boarding and skiing. There is a great vibe made all the better by the lovely people here.

Thanks to on and off snow falls and some great snow making I have been transported into an utterly amazing Winter Wonderland with a breathtaking backdrop courtesy of the Snowy Mountains.

Perisher Ski Report and Nikon have been working together to bring you the latest snow conditions and reports, filmed on the Nikon D300s.

My Week 1 Ski Report

My photos

I’ve tried to capture a snippet of my experience with some photos on my new Nikon D5000. After some quick lessons from our Camera Op Mel, I’ve been practicing with the manual settings and I must admit I was surprised at how easy it is to get pick up.

Blue Cow – I tried to capture the chairlift in the background of the beautiful gum

Icicles – The icicles are a real novelty for me

Snowboarders – I’ve been doing my best to catch some budding snowboarders in the moment

Reporting live to around the country and creating packages for some of the biggest TV Networks has been both thrilling and nerve wracking. I’m looking forward to perfecting my skills both behind and in front of the camera over the next few months.

Stay tuned for my next installment on My Nikon Life
I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for the Things that make you shiver assignment.!

You can keep an eye on what we’re doing here at Perisher via twitter and facebook, we’d love to know what you think. My afternoon snow reports are uploaded weekly.

Back Soon!
