Nikon Australia has sponsored Spirit of the Maid, a Volvo Ocean 60ft racing yacht which has a long and illustrious history of international yacht racing. She was originally launched in 1997 as IllbruckV2 to compete in the 1997/1998 Volvo Round the World Yacht Race being successful in that event winning several of the legs.

Due to her size (classed as a pocket maxi) and racing pedigree, she is a drawcard for public and media attention.

Her home base is the tropical waters of Hamilton Island for eight months of the year with the balance of the year being spent in Sydney, and for a smaller portion, in Brisbane whilst competing in regattas.
