The first Nikon School classes were held last weekend in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Introduction to DSLR course is the first course offered at Nikon School classes and the launch saw a diverse range of photographers who were looking to either learn how to step up from a compact camera or turn their DSLR off AUTO.

The main objective of the Introduction to DSLR class is to encourage and inspire everyday people to become more confident and creative with their photography using a DSLR camera.

Classes were instructed by specially selected Nikon Professional Services (NPS) members, each with an extensive range of photography and DSLR experience. It was their stories, images and passion for photography that brought each class alive with inspiration, creativity and thirst for knowledge.

A range of media representatives were invited along to join us on this educational experience.

“The Introduction to DSLR class is great for a complete novice or even someone who knows the basics but wants a refresher course. In addition to the course work, I got a lot out of the general tips given by the teachers and found the practical sessions to be most valuable”
Good Gear Guide, Elias Plastiras

“I found the class really informative and especially loved the little tips offered by the instructors – these were very helpful and offered something more than what you could read in a manual or instruction book”
CBS Interactive, Irene Mickaiel

“I’m very glad I attended the Nikon School in Melbourne – it was loads of fun and very informative. I definitely walked away from it with a greater understanding of the art of photography. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in taking better photos.”
Get Lost! Mag, Luke Wright

“I had a great day on Saturday, and enjoyed spending time with some great people within the Nikon community. I came away from the talk feeling inspired and will definitely spread the word”
Get Lost! & Freelance photographer, Lani Jensen

The class is a mix of theory and practical elements designed to provide students with the basics of photography and how to use their camera. Some images captured by students during their practical sessions are below.

More courses will be added to the Nikon School classes curriculum in coming months, so stay tuned for the next chapter! And of course, we appreciate your feedback on what you are interested in seeing at Nikon School classes. Email your suggestions and feedback to school@mynikonlife.com.au.
